Support Newborn Screening Awareness week in the UK on 7th September 2015

4 years ago Newborn Screening Awareness (NBS) Week in the UK was introduced. This takes place each year in September and this year NBS Awareness Week is week commencing 7th September 2015. Each year we try to do a different initiative to raise awareness of the importance of newborn screening in saving the lives of babies and children.

As we have a newly elected Government, with many new Members of Parliament, this year we are trying to raise awareness of the importance of newborn screening among our current MP’s. We want as many people as possible to write to their MP to coincide with week commencing 7th September. This is a joint initiative with a number of other patient organizations representing patients and families affected by inherited metabolic and rare disorders. We have also asked the patient organizations who represent disorders that are currently screened for, to also help us with this initiative.

I am therefore writing to you to ask for your help. Click here to download a draft letter that you can send to your MP. You only need to insert the appropriate details as shown in the letter. We want as many letters as possible to arrive with MP’s. If you are unsure who your MP is or how to contact them you can use either of these links below. Just type in your postcode into the box and search and it will find the details. You can either send the letter to your MP by e mail or send it by post.

Thank you for considering helping in this way. If you have any friends or family members who you also think might help us in this way please feel free to share this e mail. The more people who can help the more impact it will have on MP’s
