Dr Deegan will have substantial responsibility for Gaucher disease and other lysosomal disorders and will shortly take over many administrative responsibilities for our NSCAG (government centrally funded) Centre. He is a brilliant clinician and will remain research-active in this field. He has had uniquely in the country a rigorous professional training in clinical biochemistry in which he has also gained accreditation at the consultant level.
Dr Deegan, who originally trained in Dublin, says: 'This appointment allows me to continue the work in which I have been very happy in recent years. To look after patients with Gaucher disease and other lysosomal storage disorders in this environment has been a great privilege.'
