The Romanian Gauchers Association held a patient meeting and symposium on Gaucher disease in Bucharest on the weekend of the 30 June to 2 July 2005.
Patients and their families listened to talks on Gaucher disease and after the formal presentations families had an opportunity to talk to the doctors who had travelled from many parts of Europe.
Several families bought their own personal doctors to the meeting to listen to the speakers and further their knowledge of the disease. After the symposium everyone was taken on a trip to visit Turda which is famous for its salt mines. George Sinca, Chairman, said: 'The patients felt that the meeting was a great success.'
