Goodbye Sarah!

Many of you know and love Sarah Allard, our Operations Manager, who has been with the Gauchers Association for 13 years and who has become a friend to so many of the Gaucher patients and families in our community. Unfortunately, Sarah has decided to move onto pastures new and will be leaving the Association on Friday 5 August. We cannot thank Sarah enough for everything she's done for the Association over the last nearly decade and a half. The dedication, commitment and love she has shown to the whole Gaucher community have been unwavering. We are obviously sorry to see her go but we know that she won't be a stranger and we are really happy for her that she is taking a new and exciting step in her career.

Whilst we say goodbye to Sarah, we wanted to reassure everyone in the community that the Gauchers Association remains open for business and is here to support you. After the summer we will be looking to recruit a new Operations Assistant to take on Sarah's role but in the meantime two of our trustees, Dan and Emily, will be on hand to assist anyone who needs help or information, using the usual channels: ga@gaucher.org.uk and 01453 549231, or you can contact them at dan@gaucher.org.uk and emily@gaucher.org.uk. Dan and Emily are both Gaucher patients and have been on the Board of the Gauchers Association for over fifteen years. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need anything, no matter how large or small.

If possible, we would love to see someone from the Gaucher community or who has some kind of connection with someone in our community take on the Operation Assistant's role. It is a paid, part time position and is really flexible - it can be done from home, and spread over the week as you like. It involves engagement with patients, their families and other stakeholders from within the community, helping to organise events and dealing with the basic administration of the Association. It doesn't require any specialist or technical knowledge. If you are interested, or know anyone who might be, please contact Dan or Emily.

We will be in touch in a few weeks' time with further updates and please look out for information in our next Monthly News Bulletin.
